The Pest Hazard Management System for the Food Industry
Despite considerable improvement in food hygiene legislation, there
is still a need to reduce pest contamination in many food environments.

includes:
- An initial risk assessment.
- Written procedures specific to site - to be followed in order
to minimise risks to product integrity.
- Procedure checklists, with procedures shared between client
and contractor.
- Site visits to carry out procedures.
- Defects reports, identifying non-conformities found during implementation
of procedures.
- Audit of management system and refinement after 3 months.
- Annual management audit and report.

practice, industry-specific codes and guidelines, technical information
and legislation.

is designed to provide:

- A system based on HACCP principles.
- An identification of site-specific risks, enabling resources
to be targeted more effectively.
- A system that will play a significant part in future production
of safe food.
Technical Specification
Terms of Reference
- Implementation and maintenance of PROfile
system managed by our Technical Assessor.
- PROfile
follows principles of HACCP system of risk assessment. If a HACCP
or similar system already exists in premises PROfile
will integrate with this.
- All Technical Assessors co-ordinating PROfile
have completed a certificated HACCP course.
- All clients, as part of the PROfile
system, receive a site-specific procedures and record manual and
a National Britannia Code of Good Pest Prevention Practice.
First Year
- Initial risk assessment carried out by hazard analysis team
consisting of a Technical Assessor and a Food Technologist.
- Technical Assessor will determine the range of pests likely
to affect the premises. From this information, proposals will
be made on the most effective pest prevention programme for the
site.
- On completion, the Technical Assessor will submit a draft procedures
and records manual. These documents will be submitted to the client
for approval; once agreed this will form the basis of the prevention
programme for the next 12 months.
- On the anniversary of the start of the pest prevention contract
the Technical Assessor will reassess the risk assessments, work
procedures and the Technician's pest prevention specification.
If necessary, modifications will be made.
- Following the annual audit, the Technical Assessor will make
modifications to the pest prevention programme. This may involve
the addition or subtraction of CCPs and modifications to the work
procedure programme.
