A cost-effective service designed to provide an excellent level
of cover, to protect those premises that are at moderate risk of
pest infestation.
Each site is risk assessed, following a thorough and detailed inspection,
to determine the correct level of protection.
Risk assessment is an important part of showing legal compliance
and demonstrating 'due diligence'. Sites which prepare and handle
food, such as catering, food retail and larger office environments,
usually attract a higher risk rating and would be covered by the
Comprehensive Control Plan. National Britannia provides regular
visits throughout the year, the number is determined following an
initial risk assessment, for the rapid detection and elimination
of a wide range of specified pests.
For those sites which have no food handling requirements, but still
need early detection and elimination of any intruding pests, to
protect staff and equipment, the Early Warning System will give
adequate cover. National Britannia will provide four visits per
annum for the detection and control of specified pests.
The wide range of pests covered on both Comprehensive Control Plan
(CCP) and Early Warning System (EWS) are as follows:
- House Mouse (Mus domesticus)
- Brown Rat (Rattus norvegicus)
- Black Rat (Rattus rattus)
- Oriental Cockroach (Blatta orientalis)
- House Cricket (Acheta domestica)
- German Cockroach (Blattella germanica)
- American Cockroach (Periplaneta americana)
- Silverfish (Lepisma saccharina)
Under the Comprehensive Control Plan, crawling insects (known as
casual intruders) would be treated, if they are discovered in situations
where they could pose a risk to food hygiene or health. For continued
cover, we would ask that the client implements all reasonable physical
exclusion methods, as these are by far the most effective means
of control.
A CCP protects against the following casual intruders:
- Ground Beetle (Carabidea)
- Woodlice (Isopoda)
- Centipede (Chilopoda)
- Earwig (Forticula auricularia)
- Millipede (Diplopoda)
On the initial visit our Technician will:
- Conduct a thorough inspection of the entire premises under
contract.
- Lay rodent and insect detectors in appropriate areas.
- Carry out any necessary treatments for the control of specified
pests, if presence is detected.
- Complete a detailed treatment report and findings/recommendations
will be discussed with the client.
- Leave copies of all treatment reports with the client. These
will be stored in a smart binder, containing details of the service,
vital safety information, monitoring device location list, and
contact telephone number to request advice or emergency visit.
On future visits the Technician will:
- Conduct a thorough inspection of the entire premises under
contract, checking all monitors, and changing them where necessary.
- Carry out any treatments for specified pests where detected.
- Complete a treatment report and discuss with the client.
If, during a routine visit, pests other than those covered by the
contract are detected, these will be noted and reported to the client
with the appropriate advice and costing for elimination.
In order to maintain the highest standards of pest prevention,
we will, when necessary, seek co-operation by requesting that the
client carries out certain precautionary measures regarding proofing,
to exclude pests and improve general housekeeping. This will discourage
pests and ensure maximum efficiency for our detectors and pesticides.
Any requests would be reasonable and targeted towards pest elimination,
with the ultimate goal of safe, pest-free conditions.
In the event of a request for additional emergency visits for the
control of specified pests, these will be responded to rapidly,
often on the same day, but certainly by the end of the next working
day. There is no additional charge for these emergency visits, providing
that all reasonable recommendations on housekeeping and proofing
have been complied with.
Pest infestations which the technician considers to be of a persistent
or serious nature, will be followed up to ensure rapid progress
towards elimination. In the case of rodents, follow-up will be within
five working days of treatment. With regard to insects, follow-up
will be as appropriate to the type of pest. The client will be consulted
as to appropriate treatment times.
All technical staff undertaking work on a client's premises are
trained in food safety, health and safety and are required to pass
the British Pest Control Associations' Certificate of Technical
Proficiency, the officially recognised qualification of the industry
in the UK.
