| Earthquake in Turkey | |

Nearly one week on, and I think it would be fair to say that nobody initially appreciated the total devastation that last weeks earthquake caused. At a time when we are bombarded with such terrible news reports I thought I would share the following with you. Last Friday, Martin Sanford sent some of his team to help with the hygiene effort in the earthquake zone. Our colleagues took essential 'fogging' equipment to help combat the spread of disease. They were able to go where the ministry's trucks could not, and worked on foot. They took a personal risk themselves travelling to the area with the reports of the threat of disease. The team included Ilker Bagdag, Levent Ozgun, Camel Kudu, the Istanbul service team and the contact between the NB team and the Ministry of Health was Nuri Sekban. All of the guys made a real difference, but Ilker and Levent did something quite remarkable. They helped to dig out of the rubble an eleven year old girl, one of the last remaining survivors. Truly remarkable. |
